A construction worker is free on $2,000 bond following his arrest on a charge of domestic battery.
The live-in girlfriend of 26-year-old Scott Michael Bailey of Fruitland Park went to Express Care of Leesburg on Wednesday for treatment of injuries she suffered during a disagreement, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. The woman was interviewed at Express Care.
The victim told police Bailey had gone out with friends to “some kind of party.” When he returned home on that Monday, he appeared to be “under the influence of something,” the report indicated. The couple got into an argument over money and Bailey allegedly took her in an “aggressive hug” and put pressure on her ribcage.
“It hurt really bad because in his line of work they do a lot of heavy lifting and he’s strong,” the victim told police.
She told them she thought the pain would go away, but when it didn’t, she went to Express Care to have her ribs X-rayed.
When police questioned Bailey, he said he would never purposely hurt her, but admitted they had been fighting over money and that he had held her very tightly during the disagreement.
He was booked at the Lake County Jail but released after posting bond.
