Villager’s thieving son who was pet sitter may have targeted other residents

Christopher Munday

Law enforcement has issued a warning about a Villager’s son, already facing criminal charges, who may have ripped off other Villagers.

Christopher Munday, 47, who lives with his mother at 1805 Kane Place in the Village of St. Charles, has been arrested twice this month on charges of fraud and theft.

He has been arrested in the theft and subsequent sale of an $11,000 custom-made ring and in the theft of checks from a neighbor lady for whom he had done some work.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is warning that Munday had been given keys by both of the women in order to perform work and watch their pets.

“It is believed there may be more victims who have not yet come forward,” the sheriff’s office stated in a bulletin it has issued.

If you feel you may be a victim of a crime committed by Munday in Sumter County and have not yet reported the incident to law enforcement, you are encouraged to call Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detective Jeffrey Cohen at (352) 689-4607.

Munday continued to be held this weekend on $2,000 bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
