Lake County firefighters saved an animal in distress Thursday from a storm drain in the Harbor Hills subdivision.

Crews were called to the community on Wednesday after residents reported hearing barking sounds coming for a storm drain for two days. With help from a Lake County sheriff’s animal control officer, a trap was set so the animal could safely be removed from the storm drain.
The crew checked the trap Thursday morning and found a small, healthy fox inside the cage. The animal was removed from inside the storm drain and turned over to officials from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to be relocated.
