A Villager with a disability has learned the fate of his driveway extension.
John Lawless, a disabled veteran who has had to rely on a wheelchair and a walker as he battles Stage 3 cancer, had sought permission to keep a driveway extension that was already in place when he purchased his home at 3918 East Torch Lake Drive in the Village of Antrim Dells in 2020 for $470,000. He and his wife bought the home because of the driveway extension.

The Community Development District 10 Board of Supervisors has ruled that Lawless can keep the extension after seeking an exemption through the Federal Housing Authority, based on his disability.
An anonymous complaint was lodged on Sept. 16, reporting to Community Standards that the driveway had been modified in 2014 without approval from the Architectural Review Committee.
Lawless and his wife were flabbergasted when contacted by Community Standards about the violation. They had no idea that they had purchased their Dream Home with a violation of the deed restriction.
Another resident has complained about a “troll” problem in CDD 10.
