An employee was arrested with cocaine at a restaurant in The Villages.

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday went looking for 33-year-old Dennis Joseph Desjardin of Oxford who was wanted on a Hillsborough County warrant charging him with violating his probation on a charge of driving under the influence. When deputies arrived at the restaurant and began to handcuff Desjardin, he reached into his back pocket, pulled out his wallet and attempted to toss it to his girlfriend, who is also an employee of the restaurant, according to an arrest report. Deputies collected the wallet from the girlfriend and found it contained a small plastic bag which held a white powder identified as cocaine. The wallet also contained a cut plastic straw with the residue of cocaine.

Desjardin was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $3,500 bond.
