A former top executive with The Villages has been named to the board of trustees of a local college.
Ryan McCabe, the former executive vice president of operations for The Villages, has joined the Board of Trustees for Beacon College in Leesburg.
“I know that I join President Hagerty, my fellow trustees, and the entire Beacon community in welcoming Ryan to the College’s board membership,” said Beacon College Board Chair Dr. Dan Averbeck. “His election continues Beacon’s strategic ambition to strengthen the institutional governance by attracting national leaders whose work has prepared him to shepherd the college’s development and influence at a time demanding higher education innovation and sound judgment. We consider ourselves enormously fortunate to have brought his experience to the institution.”
McCabe spent more than 10 years as director of marketing, operations manager, and the executive vice president of operations. Overseeing more than 1,500 employees, his role at The Villages included the daily operations of a diverse group of divisions, such as golf, entertainment, restaurants, the newspaper, golf cart manufacturing and sales, hydroponic farming, hotel operations, business analytics, and budgeting.
McCabe was previously married to Paige Boone, daughter of The Villages Vice President Jennifer Parr. McCabe’s father, Mackie McCabe, was the director of hospitality for The Villages for many years.
