An inspector ordered the closure of two local Mexican restaurants due to disturbing health violations.
The inspector found roaches during a visit this past Thursday at Los Magueyes Mexican Restaurant on Shopping Center Drive in Wildwood. There were live roaches found on a handwash sink in the cook line area, two live roaches near a stove and two live roaches behind a drink machine in the server area, according to a report on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. There was also a roach egg sack present behind the ice machine.

Upon closer inspection, the ice machine was found to have mold growing on it. The inspector ordered that the ice be thrown out.
There were several other high priority violations found during the visit:
• An employee wiped her forehead with the back of her hand and then touched a clean plate.
• An employee had a package of personal cold medicine on a table near a microwave.
• An employee rinsed and reused a glove before touching a clean plate.
The inspector ordered the closure of the restaurant, which was allowed to reopen the following day after the violations were corrected.
The restaurant was previously shut down in 2022.
Mexican restaurant also closed in Bushnell
A Mexican restaurant was closed earlier in the week in Bushnell after the discovery of roach activity.
Amor & Agave Mexican Cuisine was shut down after roaches were found crawling on a prep table and on the floor in the kitchen. There were also six dead roaches found in the kitchen.
The inspector also discovered food debris built up on a can opener, a wall soiled with grease and food debris and a black mold-like substance on the ice machine.
