A Summerfield woman was arrested after allegedly using a knife to threaten a woman locked in a bathroom.
A deputy responded to an aggravated assault involving 37-year-old Samantha Jo Cannova at 14072 SE 42nd Ter., Summerfield, around 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival, he met with the victim who stated she was naked inside the bathroom getting ready to shower when she heard Cannova come into the residence. She was yelling that she was going to kill her. The victim heard her punch the bathroom door, as she locked it to protect herself, the report said.
She then heard other people trying to stop Cannova as she stabbed the walls and bathroom door to get to her. The victim feared for her life due to not having anything around to protect herself. She was willing to talk to Cannova in a calm manner to diffuse the situation and contacted law enforcement while in the bathroom. She added that Cannova started the situation because she believed the victim was cheating with her man and playing games, the report said.
A witness advised that he was near the living room when another person in the residence opened the door for Cannova. She started to yell and ask for the victim before grabbing a silver knife from the kitchen. The witness went toward the hallway to protect the victim, and he heard Cannova say she wanted to fight and kill her, the report said.
Cannova then hit the door, leaving a dent close to the doorknob. She stabbed the door and the wall multiple times, as well, the report said.
After being detained for safety, Cannova stated she had been staying at the residence for a week. She wanted to confront the victim about her cheating with her man, so she yelled for her to “come talk.” She admitted to banging on the door but denied using a knife or threatening to kill the victim, the report said.
The deputy walked around the residence and saw multiple stab marks around the bathroom door and wall. There was also a large dent near the doorknob. A silver kitchen knife with drywall powder was found near a table at the entrance to the residence, as well, the report said.
Cannova was arrested on charge of assault with intent to commit a felony. She was transported to Marion County Jail with bond set at $5,000.
She was also arrested earlier this year after being busted with drugs near a shopping plaza in The Villages and in Aug. 2024 when she was nabbed for warrants after leaving Circle K.
