A suspect in the theft of a gun at a local Walmart was nabbed at a 7-Eleven in The Villages.

Anthony Frederick Schlotter Garner, 39, of Wildwood, was taken into custody on multiple charges Friday afternoon by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies at the 7-Eleven on Warm Springs Avenue at the Village of Fenney. He was spotted walking out of the convenience store when he was taken into custody.

Schlotter Garner, who is a convicted felon, had gone Dec. 5 to the Walmart in Bushnell. He selected a rifle and went through a self-checkout aisle, paying for other merchandise, but not the rifle. Detectives used surveillance from the store, including images of the truck Schlotter Garner had been driving, to determine he was the suspect.

Schlotter Garner, who was arrested earlier this year in the parking lot at the Fenney Grill, was taken into custody and booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
