A winning lottery ticket worth nearly $29,000 was recently sold at a convenience store just west of Sumter County, adding to a steady streak of local lottery successes over the past several weeks.
A top-prize winning Fantasy 5 ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven located at 1007 Highway 41 North in Inverness on Thursday, July 2. The ticket matched all five numbers in the evening drawing to secure a prize of $28,983.68.
The winning numbers for that evening’s drawing were 1, 4, 5, 10, and 23, according to the Florida Lottery.
The Inverness ticket was one of four across the state that split the jackpot for the evening drawing. The buyer of the ticket in Inverness opted to personally selected their winning numbers, rather than use a “Quick Pick” that generates a random number selection.
As of this Monday, the prize remains unclaimed.
The recent win just west of Sumter County is the latest in a wave of local lottery payouts over the past few weeks and months.
In late June, a Village of Bonnybrook resident claimed a $10,000 prize after playing the 10X The Cash scratch-off game. That individual purchased her winning ticket at the Walmart located at 4085 Wedgewood Lane in The Villages.
Just days after that win, another resident of The Villages claimed a $39,830.45 top prize from the Fantasy 5 evening drawing held on Saturday, June 27. That individual purchased his winning ticket at the Publix at Magnolia Plaza, which sold another winning Fantasy 5 top prize worth $50,724.99 in May, and another worth $43,664.53 in March 2025.
In January, a Miami woman claimed a Fantasy 5 prize worth $52,437.58 from a ticket she purchased at the Pilot Travel Center on State Road 44 in Wildwood.
Additionally, a 78-year-old resident of the Del Webb Spruce Creek community in Summerfield claimed a single-ticket Fantasy 5 top prize worth $117,957.17 in May.
Fantasy 5 is a daily draw game where players select five numbers from a pool of 1 to 36. Drawings are held twice daily at 1:05 p.m. and 11:15 p.m., and winners have up to 180 days from the original drawing date to claim their earnings.
