Charles Willard Wimmer, Jr. (“Charlie”), 71, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Born on September 4, 1954, Charlie was raised in Madeira Beach, Florida, and later made his home in Summerfield, Florida. He lived a life defined by hard work, unwavering loyalty, generosity, deep faith, and an unforgettable sense of humor. Whether he was making people laugh, lending a helping hand, or sharing stories from his days as a soccer coach, a race car driver, a world traveler repairing firetrucks in several countries, boat captain and fisherman, Charlie left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was a devoted member of Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church and was well known and loved throughout the Summerfield community.

Charlie is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa Wimmer, with whom he shared his life since 2016; his son, Chaz Wimmer, and daughter-in-law, Anne Wimmer; his cherished granddaughters, Madison and Sadie Wimmer; His stepson, Andrew, and stepdaughter, Maura, and his step-grandchildren: Noah, Mia, Amelia and Connor, whom he also cherished as his extended family members. He is also survived by his brother, Mark Wimmer; his sister, Christine Williams; his nieces and nephews, Buck Walz (JoAnne), Jenny (Kyle) Cayea, Jesse Williams, Matt Williams (Sarah), Krystal Williams, Joel Wimmer and Trevor Wimmer (Rachel); along with many other loving family members and dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by his kindness and friendship.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie “Gigi” Wimmer; his father, Charles Willard Wimmer, Sr.; his beloved wife, Cindy Wimmer; and his faithful canine companions, Oryan and Chewbacca.

A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held on August 1st, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Belleview, Florida with a reception following. His ashes will be interred at a later date.

 

Charlie never met a stranger. He had a gift for making people smile, a heart that welcomed everyone, and a love for his family that never wavered. His legacy of laughter, generosity, faith, and love will live on in the countless lives he touched. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
