A naked man who was tasered twice in the Village of Buttonwood became combative with medical personnel who attempted to tend to his injuries at The Villages Regional Hospital.
Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called by Community Watch at 12:52 a.m. Sunday to Pengrove Pass Court to a report of a naked man running on the street.
Deputies spotted a man later identified as 30-year-old Justin Lee Guscinski who resides at 1876 Pengrove Pass Court. He was holding a silver pipe and smoking marijuana. He sprinted to his property and when deputies approached him, he told them, “You are on my property, I have the legal right to shoot you.” He then shoved a deputy and ran into the house.
Deputies ordered Guscinski to come out of the house and when he briefly emerged, a deputy was able to taser him. As Guscinski tried to remove the taser’s prongs, a second deputy was able to taser Guscinski. He ran from room to room in the house, but deputies were able to apprehend him. Marijuana was also discovered in the home.
Guscinski was transported to the hospital for medical treatment where he screamed at and fought with nursing staff who were trying to place on IV in his arm. In the process, he kicked a nurse in the head. He was admitted at the hospital and left in the custody of deputies.
He was booked Monday afternoon at the Sumter County Detention Center on two third-degree felony counts of battery as well as charges of marijuana possession, possession of drug equipment and battery of a firefighter/EMT/officer. Bond was set at $17,000.
