A homeless man was arrested after he was found with a hypodermic needle while standing outside Dollar General in Lady Lake.

Officers responded to Dollar General, located at 312 S U.S. Hwy. 27, regarding 35-year-old Sean Glenn Rigsby around 7:40 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. He seemed to be under the influence of drugs and had possibly stolen some things.

When they arrived, the officers found Rigsby standing outside next to the business holding grocery bags. He was immediately detained, and his belongings were set on the ground next to him, the report said.

One of the items in his things was a gray rolled-up worker’s glove, inside of which was a hypodermic needle. During an interview with law enforcement, Rigsby could not stand still, continuously raised his eyebrows and widened his eyes. All signs indicated he had used narcotics, but he claimed to have been sober for a time, the report said.

A check of his criminal history revealed six previous arrests dating from May 25 to Nov. 3, the report said. These included in May for bathing in a service station restroom, in July for trespassing at his brother’s house and in October for going through the trash at Sunoco.

Rigsby was subsequently arrested and charged with drug equipment (possess or use). He was transported to Lake County Jail to be held without bond.

Other prior arrests happened in March 2021 for fighting over a homemade shooting range, in Jan. 2017 for trespassing at a home where he had been banned and in Dec. 2015 for raiding his mother’s checkbook.
