Gates in The Villages

To the Editor:

In my opinion, the gates serve a very useful function. They record every vehicle that enters and leaves where gates are installed. This gives authorities a starting point for any  crimes and/or other problems in The Villages. I have read on several occasions a story about a robber who enters with an empty flatbed truck and leaves with building supplies, appliances or something else and gets caught because of the cameras at the gates. The gates don’t keep out non-Villagers, but they definitely make us safer.
