85-year-old Villager banned from Publix after alleged indecent proposal

An 85-year-old Village of Rio Ranchero man has been banned from a Villages’ Publix after allegedly making an indecent proposal to a fellow customer.

James Deward Chaska will have to appear in Lake County Court to explain to a judge why he offered a woman $20 to “play with” her breasts.

Chaska had been riding in a store scooter in the bottled water section of the store on Bichara Boulevard in Spanish Springs on the afternoon of Aug. 10 when he called the woman closer to him. He took her hand and said he wanted to play with her “boobs” and would give her $20 if she allowed him to do so.

When the woman pulled away, he said, “So you’re not that type of girl,” according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

The woman alerted store management and the police were summoned.

When police talked to Chaska, he said he had been “joking.”

Store management told police they have had numerous complaints about Chaska’s touching.

He was banned from the store and will be arrested on a trespassing charge if he returns.
