Beloved Villages performer Oscar Feliu has passed away.
The Chilean singer had been a fixture on the stage in The Villages for many years, coming here with the Morse family from Michigan.
“A very sad day,” said Bill Doherty, Feliu’s longtime musical collaborator in The Villages.
He called Feliu “a very bright light in this world” and said he had “touched so many lives.”

Feliu came to the United States in 1969.
Here in Florida’s Friendliest Town, Feliu was known for his powerful voice and stage presence. For many years, he served as the manager for the Church on the Square which has since been converted to the Sharon L. Morse Performing Arts Center.
A street in the Village of Haciendas of Mission Hills, “Feliu Run,” proudly bears his name.
In addition, Feliu was well known for his love of fishing.
As a student in Michigan, he had conducted aquatic studies in several of the states’ rivers. His innovative fly patterns became well known throughout the Great Lakes region and were the subject of several newspaper and magazine articles.
