A 41-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly took $156.32 worth of clothing from Kohl’s in Lady Lake and then returned the items for a cash refund.

Carrie Reed Rusin of Ocala entered the store Tuesday and picked up items and took them to the dressing room, according to the arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. She then put the items into a Kohl’s bag, left the dressing room and went straight to the customer service center to seek a refund, the arrest report indicated. Despite the fact she did not have a receipt, she received the refund, but had to present her driver’s license.

On Thursdy, Rusin was contacted by phone by an officer with the Lady Lake Police Department. She met with the officer and said she had the clothes she had returned in her purse and left the other clothes in the dressing room. The officer determined Rusin’s explanation was not consistent with what appeared on surveillance video.

Rusin was arrested on a charge of petit theft and booked at the Lake County Jail. She was released after posting $1,000 bond. She is due for arraignment Feb. 17 in Lake County Court.
