82-year-old Spruce Creek South man arrested after allegedly firing gun during dispute with woman

Robert Stone

An 82-year-old Spruce Creek South man was arrested after allegedly firing a gun during a dispute with a woman.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies were called on Tuesday to a residence on SE 107 Ct where a woman reported that Robert Stone had fired a weapon near her at the doorway to a lanai at the home. The woman, who said she has been living with Stone for about three years and has known him for 20 years, said she was in fear for her life. He then cursed at the woman and used crude language.

She said he had been drinking throughout the day.

Stone told deputies he had been defending himself from the woman who he said “went crazy.”

A single bullet hole was found in the dining room. The round exited the wall through the garage, pierced a large garbage can, a bucket and a washing machine, according to the arrest report.

A .38 Special revolver was found with one spent casing and four rounds of ammunition.

Stone was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and firing a weapon in a dwelling.

He was booked at the Marion County Jail where he was initially held without bond.
