23-year-old Summerfield man nabbed after vicious attack at Belleview bar

Hector L. Medina Roldan

A Summerfield man was jailed early Monday morning after a nasty battle at a Belleview bar left one man hospitalized.

Belleview Police officers were called to Opus Bar and Billiards, located at 6666 SE 110th St., shortly before 1:30 a.m. and when they arrived, they located a man lying in the parking lot who was bleeding from his head. The man said he was punched once and knocked out and that “his head was hurting really bad,” a police report states, adding that the victim was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center with a head injury.

A second victim told officers he tried to intervene in the conformation and was punched in the back of his head by 23-year-old Hector L. Medina Roldan. He said he did not hit Medina Roldan back and wanted to press charges, the report says.
Deputies then made contact with Medina Roldan, who admitted to punching the first victim and knocking him out. Officers noted that Medina Roldan was “extremely intoxicated with alcohol emitting from his breath and highly agitated.”

Medina Roldan claimed that both of the victims had robbed him and “took his money.” Officers searched him and found $83 in his pockets. Medina Roldan said he had come to the bar with $100 for drinks. He was then detained and placed in the back of a patrol vehicle, the report says.

A witness told officers that he saw Medina Roldan punch the first victim and knock him out. He said Medina Roldan then started running away from the parking lot and he ran with him and told him to come back, the report says.

Medina Roldan, who lives at 2820 SE 173rd St. in Summerfield, was then placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with two counts of battery. He was released late Tuesday afternoon on $2,000 bond and his next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
