Ohio cyclist killed in accident on U.S. 301 in Marion County

An Ohio cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of an accident on U.S. 301 in Marion County.

At approximately 2:58 a.m. Thursday a semi-truck driven by 49-year-old Patrick Lee of Jacksonville had been southbound on U.S. 301, south of NE Jacksonville Road, when the truck collided with a bicyclist who was crossing the southbound lanes in a westward direction.

The unidentified 63-year-old bicyclist from Cleveland, Ohio was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Marion County Fire Rescue. The semi-truck driver escaped injury.

Authorities are not sure of the identity of the man who had been riding a three-wheel bicycle.
