Shaka Crew brings Halloween zombies back to The Villages

It’s that time of year when familiar signs of fall return to The Villages – snowbirds, love bugs and that band of zombies known as Shaka Crew.

The Shaka Crew is back to scare The Villages this Halloween with a busy schedule.

Violet Ray and her group of creepy crawlers are back for another Halloween season of spooky times and dancing fun. The crew of 21 dancers has been around for nearly a decade and, as usual, has a busy schedule set for October.

“I’m really excited for our shows this year,” Ray said this week, after Shaka Crew performed during the “Divas vs. Divos” show at Savannah Center.

“We began rehearsals the first of April and we are ready and looking forward to our ‘Thriller’ shows this October. The zombies are out and about in The Villages.”

Longtime Shake Crew member Bob Petrucelli returns to vamp it up as Dracula. He has described the Shaka Crew attraction in The Villages this way: “What’s not to like about costumes, monsters and Halloween?”

Villager Violet Ray, leader of the Shaka Crew, makes one of her classic zombie moves.
