Organizers thrilled with Italian parade, looking ahead to German parade

Members of the Resident Parade Committee were thrilled to have put together the Italian Parade this past week and are looking forward to next week’s German Parade.

“We now have two parades under our belts. I was blown away,” said Jackie Campbell at Monday’s meeting of the parade committee.

The maiden effort of the parade committee was this past March with the Irish Parade.

A large crowd turned out this past Tuesday for the Italian Parade in Spanish Springs Town Square, which featured the Village Cheerleaders, the Villages Twirlers, Chatham Chicks, Clown Alley, the Hangar Flyers Club and the Dynamic Dog Club, among others.

Red-shirted volunteers did all of the work for the parade from getting participants lined up, setting up orange cones, acting as parade marshals and cleaning up the parade route after the event.

In addition to the many volunteers, the committee wanted to thank Lisa Parkyn and Dillon Burns of the Recreation Department for their hard work and cooperation in putting on the event. The committee also wanted to offer their thanks to Luigino’s restaurant which provided a place for Mary Jo Vitale to sing, the Property Owners’ Association and District Manager Janet Tutt.

“This is a prefect example of partnership providing a sustainable event. The residents and staff should be applauded for their hard work to bring about this community event which mirrors the way other government agencies provide parades,” Tutt said.
