Executive director resigns at  Sumter County Chamber

Samantha Merritt
Samantha Merritt

Samantha Merritt resigned her position as executive director of  the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce. In a letter to the Board of Directors she cited that she is “pursuing a new opportunity.”

Merritt’s career with the chamber began in 2010 as a Membership Representative.

In late 2013 she began serving as the interim executive director and was permanently placed in June of last year.

As executive director, Merritt worked with the Board of Directors to rebrand the organization that included a fresh look, updated logo, and new website. Membership to the organization has continued to grow and a string of successful business-focused events have created a firm financial foundation. Most recently the chamber also moved their headquarters.

“It has truly been an honor to serve the members and the board of directors of the chamber,” Merritt said. “As a team we have accomplished so much. It is very bittersweet, but I am excited for what comes next for both the chamber and myself.”
