James Dunnie Sr.

James Dunnie Sr., 82, of The Villages, FL, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at The Club Health and Rehabilitation Center in The Villages, FL. He was born in Massillon, OH in 1934. He graduated from Tri-State University in Angola, IN with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was also a Professional Engineer registered in the states of Pennsylvania and Texas. He received a commission at Officers Candidate School in Newport, RI and began his military career in the U.S. Navy as Ensign and retiring after 21 years active and reserve duty as a LCDR U.S.N.R. His engineering career was in the field of building rockets, submarines and power plants. He finished his career as the Chief Estimator for Brown and Root, Inc. a division of Halliburton Company, Houston, TX on November 11, 1999.
He loved sailing, golfing, traveling and was an avid reader. He was an active member of St. George Episcopal Church and loved his church family.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dolores; son, James Jr. (Lillian); daughter, Lisa Scheffe (Matthew); and grandchildren: Amanda Dunnie, Megan and Nathan Scheffe.
A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held at St. George Episcopal Church, The Villages, on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George Episcopal Church, The Villages, FL or the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation, 4371 Veronica S. Shoemakers Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33916, in his memory.
