An Ohio man was arrested early Saturday morning on a drunk driving charge after a pickup truck left County Road 466 and struck a palm tree.

A Sumter County sheriff’s deputy had been dispatched to a report of a reckless driver in the vicinity of County Road 223 and County Road 466. The deputy spotted a speeding red Dodge pickup which had extensive damage consistent with a report of a vehicle which had struck a wire fence and a palm tree. The driver of the pickup was identified as 35-year-old Timothy D. Moran of Dayton, Ohio.

It appeared he had been drinking. He failed field sobriety exercises and provided breath samples that registered .153 and .150 blood alcohol content.

He was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and hit and run.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $2,500 bond.
