Service Academy Open House

U.S. Rep. Rich Nugent
U.S. Rep. Rich Nugent

I honestly don’t have a lot to report from last week that you all don’t already know. The fight over whether to fund Planned Parenthood has been well documented and the coverage of the presidential election is in full swing. Instead, I wanted to give you all a heads up about one of the most important (and certainly one my favorite) events we do all year.

Every year, I host a Service Academy Open House to bring in representatives from the nation’s service academies to talk to parents and students about the education they provide and how these kids can go about pursuing a congressional nomination to attend.

As many of you may know, two of my boys attended West Point and I know first hand what a difference it made in their growth as citizens and as leaders. If any of you all know of any high school students who may be considering our service academies, please feel free to forward this along.

The event will be held on October 5th from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Klein Conference Center at the College of Central Florida. The address is 3001 S.W. College Road in Ocala. If anybody has any questions at all, please contact my office in The Villages at 352-689-4684.

Thanks, as always, for your time. We’ll be back later in the week with an update on where things stand in DC. If you all need anything in the meantime, just let me know.

U.S. Rep. Rich Nugent represents The Villages in the House of Representatives.
