Sherman Jack Levine

Sherman Jack Levine

Sherman Jack Levine, known to all by “Jack,” of The Villages, FL, was 78 when he passed away on Monday, holding hands with his longtime partner, Elin Mayer at 10:50 a.m., November 27, 2017. He spent nine days at Brandley House, part of Marion County Hospice where he received loving compassionate care. Jack was born in Miami, Florida, Feb. 25, 1939, parents, mother, Bessie Goldie Butterman, and father, Albert Levine. He always remembered the love his parents gave him and his younger brother William, who pre-deceased him in 1963.

He did everything in his power to overcome the challenges of heart and kidney failure, and along this journey he did see many little miracles occur. And as he tried to overcome his health challenges he continuously thanked Steve Camp, his prayers, the prayers of the Unity Congregation, and the prayers of all he knew.

He graduated from the University of Florida , where he was a proud member of his fraternity Pi Lambda Phi , and had fond memories of his buddies, Richard Forster, Eddie Ginsberg, Stan Newmark, and Barry Zimmler. He served almost 3 years active duty in the U,S. Coast Guard, followed by 11 years of Reserve Service.

He is survived by his loving partner, Elin Barker Mayer, and his beloved children Karen Glasser, of Alexandria, VA., Judy Soble, and David Levine from the Atlanta area. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Jake and Zoe Glasser, Garrett and Kendall Guthrie Levine, and Lee and Erica Soble. Now divorced, in 1963 he married his college sweetheart, Linda Frank, and in addition to their beloved surviving 3 children, their beloved oldest son, Warren Edward, was born in 1964 and passed away 5 months after his birth.
“Jack” contributed so much to his business, family, and community in Miami, Florida. He was a committed member of Temple Judea in Coral Gables, Florida.
He created a successful Pest Control Business (Purity Pest Control) which he sold in 1992, and then accepted a position as Senior Vice President of Sales with Mayer Motivations, a Convention, Meeting, and Incentive Travel Company in 1993. He was instrumental in building that company into a highly successful enterprise.

Jack was an adventurer, and for the last nearly 30 years, he and his partner Elin traveled the world, setting up luxury travel experiences for corporate groups. They saw miraculous sights, and experienced unique ventures and journeys on this planet.

He loved visiting his children and grandchildren, also Robin his daughter-in-law, and loved Cousin Sandy Kratzinger who recently moved to The Villages from Las Vegas.

He will always be remembered for his warmth, smile, unlimited sense of humor, generosity, and appreciation of the joy of life. He forever dreamed the “impossible dream” and always did his best to try to achieve it. He will be deeply missed—but his memory highly treasured by friends and family.

The service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Banks-Page-Theus Funeral Home in Wildwood, FL. A luncheon will follow the service at Panera Bread in Spanish Springs in The Villages.
