Show some respect for our flag

To the Editor:

I have read all the comments about the NFL for and against.  Every flag holiday in The Villages, I see our flag disrespected. Residents line their lawns with flags, leave them out for days, in the dark and bad weather and the worst is when the wind blows and they touch the ground. I see people wearing the flag as clothing. These are all examples of disrespect of our flag. As a Navy veteran and a flag bearer when I was a recruit, I cringe every time I see this.  It’s time that we stop pointing fingers and look at how each of us treat our flag.  I’m amazed at how people can see what others are doing wrong but they don’t see what they are doing wrong.  Please look up flag etiquette if you do not know all the etiquette rules about our beautiful Flag.
