Village of Silver Lake man already on probation found with cocaine in vehicle

A 52-year-old Village of Silver Lake man already on felony probation, was arrested Sunday night when cocaine was found in his vehicle.

A car driven by Steven Joseph Hamel of 1017 Ann Ave. was pulled over for speeding at 8:36 p.m. Sunday on Griffinview Drive, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. A K-9 unit was called in and the dog alerted on the vehicle. Crack cocaine was found in the front center console cup holder. Hamel was arrested on a charge of possession of cocaine. He was also charged with violation of probation in a previous battery case.

He was booked without bond at the Lake County Jail.
