A bartender at Evans Prairie Country Club was arrested on his way home from work at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies.

Michael Isaac Kimbley, 35, of Summerfield, was driving a red Chevrolet pickup truck when he was pulled over on U.S. Hwy. 301 at County Road 104.

Kimbley had swerved across the center line several times, the deputy noted in his report.

“His extreme inability to maintain his lane was severe enough that I was very concerned about the safety of others on the roadway,” the deputy wrote in his arrest report.

When the deputy turned on his lights to initiate a traffic stop, Kimbley slammed on his brakes coming to an abrupt stop on the railroad tracks on County Road 104, the arrest report indicated.

Kimbley told the deputy he had consumed, “a couple of beers,” the arrest report said.

Kimbley failed field sobriety exercises, the report noted.

He later declined to provide breath and urine samples.

He was issued a citation for driving under the influence and jailed at the Sumter County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.
