Martha M. Allen

Martha M. Allen, 100, of Leesburg, FL, formally of White Lake, Michigan, passed away on September 21, 2018 under the loving care of her granddaughter Cindy Tilley in Leesburg, Florida. She was born on June 9, 1918 in Cedar Michigan.

She was a retired Factory Worker for General Motors who had worked for 35 years before her retirement. She was of the Catholic faith and was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Burton, Michigan. Martha was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Traverse City, Michigan and The United Auto Workers Local in Pontiac, Michigan.

Her hobbies included ceramics, baking and painting scenes on china. Her hobbies turned into something more when she owned her own ceramics business along with baking wedding cakes for friends and customers from her home. She was a very strong willed and independent woman of her time.

Martha is survived by her daughter: Dorothy Landry and her husband Joe of White Lake, MI; two sisters: Alice Harig of Grand Rapids, MI and Maxine Pekkala of Traverse City, MI; two grandchildren: Cindy Tilley and her husband Jeff of Leesburg, FL and Larry Cole and his wife Margaret of White Lake, MI; eight great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Burton, Michigan with a visitation to be held prior to the mass from 10 a.m. till the hour of service at the church. Interment to follow the Funeral at Oakwood Cemetery, Traverse City, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Humane Society in Martha’s loving memory.
