A health inspector found cleanliness violations during a recent inspection at a popular Lake Sumter Landing restaurant.
The inspector paid a visit Sept. 18 to Cody’s Original Roadhouse at 1014 Lakeshore Drive, according to a document on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
A high-priority violation that was discovered was an employee who touched a cell phone and then touched unwrapped single-service items without washing their hands, the report indicated. The employee was “educated” about proper hand washing.
A second high-priority violation discovered during that same inspection was oven cleaner being stored on the same shelf as fresh baked potatoes. Toxic substances are not to be stored with food.
A “potentially hazardous” violation concerned food that was opened and held more than 24 hours without being properly date marked.
An intermediate violation was found when there were no paper towels or a hand-drying device available at an employee handwash station.
Basic violations included a soiled freezer floor in a walk-in cooler, a missing ceiling vent and ice buildup in a walk-in freezer.
