License plate seized after man caught driving without license

The license plate was seized from a vehicle when a Lady Lake man was caught driving without a license.

Ricky Ryals, 56, was at the wheel of a 2001 Ford Explorer at about 2:30 p.m. April 19 when he made a right turn onto County Road 466 in the vicinity of South Old Dixie Highway, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. A check revealed a seize tag order had been issued for the vehicle’s license plate.

A check revealed Ryals did not have a driver’s license and he said he had a license “back in the ‘80s,” the report said. He also claimed he had a Mississippi CDL license, but a check revealed that license had expired in 2010.

He was issued a citation for driving without a license. His vehicle was towed from the scene and the license plate was seized.
