The new generation has changed the direction of The Villages

To the Editor:

When my wife and I first came to The Villages in 2003, we looked forward to every day where positive changes made our lives more exciting.
We would read about new places opening up like the movie theaters, new restaurants, headlights being allowed on golf carts, a polo field, a new country club, etc. Each year we would fill out a questionnaire that would seek to find out what we would like to see added to The Villages to make our retirement better. This was during the time of Harold and Gary.
Enter the new generation. Now we anxiously await the daily news to see what is being taken away from us, hoping it will not be too severe. If the things being taken away are things we all want to stay, people fill out petitions and attend meetings in the hope that these decisions may be reversed. That never happens. Once a decision is reached for a major change, it follows through, regardless of our complaints. My wife and I never intended to move out of The Villages because there are still so many great things that the founders created and the new leaders haven’t had a chance to change yet. That, unfortunately has changed and we are currently looking. We still hope that things will go back to the Developer accepting normal profits, and listening to the people who retired here, but sadly and realistically, we know they won’t.
