David R. Rodriguez, 39, of Summerfield, had been at the wheel of a white Ford Expedition shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday at Odell Circle and Buena Vista Boulevard when his vehicle struck a raised concrete median, electronic gate and a red Chevrolet Equinox, according to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Rodriguez told a trooper that he had just dropped a friend off and was heading back to Gator’s Dockside. He said he had consumed a vodka and cranberry and a shot of Fireball at the bar.

He failed field sobriety exercises and provided breath samples that registered .150 and .156 blood alcohol content. He was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and DUI-property damage.

He was booked at the Sumter County Jail and released after posting $2,500 bond.
