Paradise Center being used as a hurricane refuge for Irma

To the Editor:

I was thrilled to just read that Paradise was just decided to be a refuge center. I had wondered why other areas within The Villages weren’t being used such as Savannah Center, the charter schools, etc.  with the population in our great area. It was mentioned that there was a reason why areas weren’t open for this purpose, but I did not read any reasons. Since I consider Irma a dangerous storm, I would assume help would be right there to help those who can’t help themselves and of course it’s a retirement community. We aren’t at that young age when we could just “pick up and go.”
