An honest man did the right thing

To the Editor:

This past week, a Choice Maintenance employee came to my home to trim and clean up landscaping.  He apologized for being 20 minutes late. I told him it was fine. He went on to say that he was late because he found a women’s cell phone and wallet at the entry gate of our village. Apparently, she had the items on her lap and when she opened her car door to press the button they dropped outside on to the ground. He spent time tracking her down and returned her items. The woman had just been to the bank and had over $800 in her wallet.
Many of us know that the people who work around our homes are not well paid. This man did the right thing. The woman wanted to give him a reward, but he refused. I was quite taken by his honesty and asked him his name. His name is Frank Mazzacane.
I told him it was good to hear this story particularly with all we are dealing with right now. He said it was good to show that some people will do the right thing. In the future I plan to talk to people who work at our home and at least know their name. I just want to thank Frank for his good deed and for his honesty.
