Former Leesburg basketball standout killed in accident on Interstate 75

A former Leesburg High School basketball standout was killed in an accident late Friday night on Interstate 75.

Keshawn Johnson, 20, of Leesburg, had been at the wheel of a 2002 Mercury Sable at 11:35 p.m. heading south on I-75 at Mile Marker 383 when her car drifted toward the median, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. She overcorrected, her vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Johnson, who stood 6 feet tall, was a sophomore at Gulf Coast State College in Panama City and played for the Commodores.
