John Joseph DeRosa

John Joseph DeRosa, 77, of The Villages, FL, and formally of Anderson, Indiana died September 28, 2018 surrounded by his family and friends. John was born September 12, 1941 in Queens, New York to Francis and Margaret (Allen) DeRosa.

John was a Letter Carrier for 37 years in New York City and Anderson, Indiana. He retired in 2001 and moved to The Villages in 2003.

He was a member of St. Marks Roman Catholic Church, where he sold gift cards for 10 years, and a member of K of C. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, going to the casino. He also enjoyed being with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years Rosemary; son Frank Lorenz; grandchildren Carter Lorenz and Maggie Lorenz; brother Robert (Rosemarie); sister-in-laws Joanne (Dr. Joseph) Porcaro, Isabelle DeRosa; nieces and nephews Dawn (Brian) Nielsen, Michael (Kim) DeRosa, Bobby DeRosa, Donna (Dr. Luke) Oh, Peter (Kim) DeRosa, Kathleen (Dan) Shepler, Paul Porcaro, Theresa Wrin, Christine (Brandon) Gailbraith; and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Robert John; parents Francis and Margaret DeRosa; and brothers Anthony & Frank DeRosa.

Visitation will be held at Hiers-Baxley Funeral & Cremation Life Event Center, 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages, FL 32162, on Monday October 1, from 2 – 6 p.m. Funeral mass will be at St. Marks Roman Catholic Church Friday, October 5, 2018 10 a.m. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson, Indiana.
