Ocala woman jailed after shirt-ripping attack leaves 66-year-old man battered

Jacqueline Pommier Diel

A woman who was standing on the back porch of an Ocala home holding a broken chair was arrested late Saturday night after a 66-year-old man called for help.

When Marion County sheriff’s deputies arrived, they spotted 29-year-old Jacqueline Pommier Diel outside the residence on NW 79th Terrace Road, standing near a door with a broken glass. She was detained and placed in the backseat of a patrol car while deputies spoke with the man and his wife, a sheriff’s office report states.

The man told deputies that his wife had received a call from a country club claiming that Diel was intoxicated and driving around the parking lot while honking her horn. The man said he drove to country club and attempted to speak with Diel, but she “locked herself in her car and refused to stop hitting her car horn.” It is unclear from the report what relationship the man and his wife have to Diel, if any.

The man returned to his residence and Diel eventually went to hers, which was nearby. The man said he then walked over to speak with her but she “was very intoxicated and started yelling at him.” The man said Diel hit him on the back of the neck as he was leaving her house and when he tried to grab her hands, she kept striking him and ripped his shirt, the report says.

The man added that after he finally was able pin Diel down, he left and went back inside his home. But Diel then walked to his back door, picked up a chair and used it to break the glass, the report says, adding that the man didn’t want to press any charges for criminal mischief against her.

Deputies noted several lacerations and abrasions on the man’s face, neck and left arm, as well as his ripped shirt. They spoke with a witness who confirmed the man’s story and then made contact with Diel. Deputies noticed that she was “very intoxicated” and she called the man a “murderous rapist,” then refused to talk about what happened, the report says.

Diel was transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with battery on a person 65 years of age or older. She was held on $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in a Marion County courtroom on Nov. 13 at 9 a.m.

Diel also was arrested on May 8 and charged with battery on a person 65 years of age or older. She was released the following day on $500 bond. Marion County court records show that she entered into a pre-trail diversion program on that charge on Sept. 24.
