A 19-year-old arrested with marijuana after a K-9 alerted on his vehicle as the result of a traffic stop Wednesday on U.S. 301 at State Road 44A.
Jeffrey Delano Wood had been at the wheel of a vehicle stopped at about 12:30 p.m. after failing to properly stop behind a stop bar, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.
After he was pulled over, Wood began to sweat profusely and to shake uncontrollably and told an officer that he had been coming out of “a bad area” and “was scared because he had heard someone had just been killed,” the arrest report said.
A K-9 alerted on his vehicle and Wood told police that marijuana he had just purchased was located in the glove compartment. He was found to be in possession of 6.5 grams of marijuana.
He was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.
