A 48-year-old woman was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence after she was spotted swimming after hours at the Bonita Pool.
A Community Watch officer summoned the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday night after spending about 15 minutes persuading the woman at the pool to leave, because the pool was closed.
After finally getting out of the pool, Kristen Paula Leisz, who lives on Avenida Central, got into a golf cart and began to drive away. The Community Watch officer believed she had been drinking and followed her while summoning the sheriff’s office.
She appeared to be intoxicated and the deputy spotted an empty bottle of Skol Vodka in the golf cart.
Leisz failed field sobriety exercises and refused to provide a breath sample.
The deputy determined Leisz does not have a valid Florida driver’s license and was convicted twice on DUI charges in Virginia.
She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.
