Ann Jenkins Guthrie

Ann Jenkins Guthrie, of The Villages, FL, died August 24, 2015. She was born in Florida. Received a BA Degree from Lynchburg College in VA. Moved to Maryland where she married Dewey W. Guthrie, Jr. She received her MA from University of MD, in early childhood Education. In 1995 she retired from Montgomery county Public schools where she had taught grades Kindergarten-Third for 34 years. She moved from MD to The Villages in June 2000. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, golf, bowling, water activities and boat cruising. She was an active member of New Covenant United Methodist Church and many other organizations. Survivors include her husband Dewey “Bud”, son Dewey W. III “Duke”, daughter-in-law Lynn, granddaughter Samantha and sister Joy Tidwell. She had many sisters and brother in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Guthrie Saturday September 5, 2015 at 5 p.m. at Beyers Funeral Home, Lady Lake, FL. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made, in memory of Ann, to the American Cancer Society or Florida United Methodist Children’s Home.
