Lake County to host Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Tour for third consecutive year

The 2016 Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Tour, presented by Huk Performance Fishing and sponsored by Lake County, will feature ten events in nine states including the kickoff tournament at the Harris Chain of Lakes on Feb. 27 and 28.

“This is the third consecutive year Lake County has hosted the event at Hickory Point Park, a prime destination for bass fishing in Florida,” said Lake County Sports Development Coordinator Adam Ashton. “Last year’s event drew over 500 participants, and we expect even more anglers to attend this year.”

Walk-up registrations and payment will be accepted on Friday, Feb. 26 from 3- 6 p.m. at the Hickory Point Park Pavilion, 27341 State Road 19, Tavares. Tournament waters will feature the Harris Chain of Lakes including Griffin, Eustis, Harris, Little Harris, Denham, Dora, Beauclaire, Carlton, Trout, and Horseshoe and all connecting rivers, creeks and canals. The northern boundary is Moss Bluff Lock and Dam on the Oklawaha River and the southern boundary is the Apopka-Beauclaire Lock.

The guaranteed grand prize for the 2016 Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Tour will be a fully rigged Nitro Z18 boat, motor and trailer package with a total retail value of $33,175, including dealer prep and freight. The 2016 season will feature over $1 million in prizes and payouts with events in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
