Ocala man seriously injured when motorcycle collides with SUV

A 59-year-old Ocala man was seriously injured in a motorcycle-SUV collision at 4:42 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 441 in Marion County.

Todd Worrell had been attempting to make a U-turn on his motorcycle when it collided with the SUV driven by April Henderson, 36, of Ocala. Worrell became lodged under the SUV as a result of the crash, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

A medical transport helicopter arrived on scene, but experienced a mechanical issue with one of its doors. The pilot deemed the aircraft unsafe for flight.

Marion County Fire Rescue transported Worrell to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

The helicopter was repaired and left the scene at 6:16 p.m., the FHP report indicated.

Traffic on the roadway had been closed due to the accident and the presence of the helicopter.
