A sinkhole in Whitney Villas prompted the closure Thursday morning of a section of Zydeco Court.

Community Watch was also at the site, setting up cones warning residents to stay away from the sinkhole.

Nervous neighbors speculated that the sinkhole could be related to the major reconstruction taking place on nearby Hillsborough Trail. A section of that busy thoroughfare has been closed between Quartz Avenue and Viola Court. The District has indicated that the work is a “manhole replacement.”
