A judge has sentenced a 34-year-old resident of the Village of Chatham to six months probation and five days in jail for illegally operating a golf cart while his license was suspended

Travis Lee Hale of 17365 SE Champion Ave. was spotted at 4:35 p.m. Aug. 14 illegally crossing U.S. Hwy. 27/441 at Griffin Avenue, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Records showed that Hale’s driver’s license had been suspended in 2006 for driving under the influence. He also had other suspensions related to the DUI.

On Wednesday in Lake County Court, Hale entered a plea of no contest to the charge.
