A 24-year-old Lady Lake man was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence on New Year’s Eve at County Road 466 and Buena Vista Boulevard.

Mathew George Myers was pulled over at 8:15 p.m. due to an expired registration, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Myers told the deputy he had consumed three beers. He failed field sobriety exercises. About an hour after his arrest, he provided breath samples that registered .077 and .066 blood alcohol content.

An inventory of Myers’ vehicle turned up an open can of Bud Light and an unopened can of Natural Ice beer.

Myers was charged with driving under the influence, ticketed on a charge of open container and given a verbal warning for having an expired tag.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.
