Driver ticketed after trying to beat train in Marion County

A 23-year-old Ocala man was ticketed but uninjured after his Ford pickup truck collided with a train early Wednesday morning in Marion County.

John McNair told a Florida Highway Patrol investigator that he had tried to beat the train as the railroad crossing devices began to lower at 2:55 a.m. on NE 95th Street. Instead, his vehicle collided with the train and was pushed south by the locomotive, damaging his truck.

McNair escaped injury but was ticketed on a charge of failure to obey a railroad crossing sign.
