A maintenance worker was arrested after he allegedly stole Oxycodone from a resident at Sumter Place on County Road 466A in The Villages.

The administrator of the assisted living facility contacted the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office resulting in the arrest of 50-year-old Glenn Thomas Fisher of Ocala.

The family of a resident had reported to administration at Sumter Place that Oxycodone pills were vanishing from an apartment. The medicine had been kept in a locked drawer in the kitchen. The lock was changed, but pills kept disappearing. The administration received permission from the resident to put a surveillance camera in her apartment. A review of the surveillance video showed Fisher entering the apartment, and attempting to access the medication, which had been removed. When it was not found in the drawer, Fisher began opening up other doors and drawers in search of the Oxycodone, according to the arrest report.

When a deputy showed up to speak with Fisher on Tuesday, Fisher immediately asked the deputy if he wanted to speak to him about being on drugs. He admitted to entering the woman’s room at least 10 times. He said he did not know the exact number of Oxycodone pills he stole from the victim, but did say it was more than 25 but less than 50 pills. Fisher said he was “extremely sorry” for stealing from the woman, but said he had “a bad drug addiction” and he could not help himself, the report indicated. He also admitted he had taken 15 pills from another resident.

Fisher was arrested on charges of burglary and grand theft. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $7,000 bond.
